Matrixgrade FC was founded in 1979 and was originally called Wrights and Dobson' FC, after it's numerous players who worked there, including player manager and founder Stephen Farmery. The team trained every day across the road from the Wrights and Dobson factory, on Carlton Road at the local park. The early days did not see the grand matches of the league as it exists today, friendly matches with the Sunday teams is where it all began, and remained for 6 months.

After this, the club joined the "Sunday morning league" and started to play in the premier division against sides including Royal Oak, Plough and Harrow, Hucknall Colliery Welfare (now known as Hucknall Town). We remained in this league until the mid 80's when we joined the Spartan League playing on a Saturday afternoon.

In the late 80's, our name and sponsor changed to "Old Rose FC" (pub, Radford). During this time we had quite a bit of success winning the double once and the Senior cup twice (in total we won this cup 6 times, more than any over team since 1925). As the team grew stronger, greater sponsorshop was required, and our current sponsors Matrixgrade stepped in......it is in 1989 we became Matrixgrade FC.

In the early 90's, we left the Spartan league and joined the Notts Combination League for just one season, where we came in runners up, not a bad season! From here we joined the Notts Amateur League where remained for 3 years, winning the league twice and coming in runner up once. In 1997 we left the Amateur League and joined the Notts Alliance League, division 2.

In our first season in division 2, we won the league and were promoted to division 1, where we remained for 2 years. In divison 1 we experienced mixed success but before we could realise our potential in this league, we were forced to leave as the ground facilities did not meet the required standard. Back we went to the Notts Amateur League where we stayed for a couple of years before moving to the NSL in 2007 where we are today.

Come on The Bees!!!
