Paley shines
The Bees came out today missing a few players but matched Caribbs in every department. We were very unlucky not to win the game with 2 disallowed and a blatant penalty turned down by Andy Rolph. Both sides had chances in the first 20 minutes with Buck causing havoc for the Caribbs defence and Cookie doing the same against ours.
It was Cookie (Justin Evans) who managed to break the deadlock, going against three defenders and slotting the ball under the oncoming palethorpe. (1-0 after 24 minutes).
Caribbs had a couple more chances but were thwarted by some stunning saves from our m.o.m Paley. We should have been level after 30 minutes when Macca sent in a great cross from the left to find Wainwright at the far post who made no mistake heading home, but was judged to be offside.
On 40 minutes Bucko was sent through and found himself one on one with the keeper. As he was about to shoot he was brought down from behind for what seemed a easy penalty, but amazingly Rolph saw nothing wrong. (Half time 0-1)
We put more pressure on the second half and had the ball in the net again when Bucko nicked the ball from Mcdonald as he released it for a drop kick but again was disallowed. In the 65th minute Caribbs had a free kick 20 yds out as the ball was floated in, there was the normal argy bargy from both sides but Rolph saw it different to everybody else and gave a penalty.
The kick was skied way over the crossbar and the game wasn’t spoiled by a poor decision. Caribbs held out in the end but the Bees did themselves proud and were very unlucky to lose, on another day we could have won the game convincingly .
Keep it going lads, well done! The training is paying off, so a special thanks to Lawsy and Sheffield Wed. We have some very good players in the side and its only natural that teams will come in sniffing around with offers. Don’t let this turn your heads as this can ruin our spirit we have built up in the side.
On the new signings side - we have signed 3 more players to strengthen an already strong side...
Dave Wainwright (Center half & ex Hucknall Town
Gav Needham (Center half & Ex Hucknall Rolls, Heanor & Rainworth)
Vinny Brown (Center Forward)
All three bring experience strength and power to the bees. Remember once a Bee always a Bee!!
Training Tues - enjoy.
