Farmery keeps em out

Southwell came to the hive today full of confidence after one or two decent results over the past few weeks. They made it very difficult for us  with some very good team play. The  Bees had a chance after 15 minutes when the hard working Doyle sent a good cross from the right but Shaw was just a little late in making the connection. The Southwell defence held out until the 30 minute mark  when Shaw left them with no chance lobbing their keeper from 25 yards. (1---0 after 30 minutes)

They went behind but didn’t give up and it could have gone in to the interval level had it not been for the stand in keeper Farmery who made a superb save low down at his near post.

No changes were made from the Matrix side and the game more or less carried on how the first ended. Southwell had a couple of more chances to level but Farmery again more than matched each effort. The midfield continued to battle for every ball in the middle but were guilty of giving the ball away far too cheaply making the game much harder than it should have been. Nobody worked harder than the ever improving Bignall who does-nt shy away from any tackle but again we were out of luck when Bignall went in for a 50/50 tackle and ended up breaking his leg in two places. The game was held up for a while but we managed to keep our concentration and see out the game for the 3 points.
