Dave sounds the bells
We played today in stages like I know we are capable of doing. We knocked the ball around in groups of 3’s, 4’s and 5’s led by play maker Bell who had one of his better games. When we played the ball around, the opposition couldn’t touch us but we seem intent on shooting ourselves in the foot by losing our shape and certain individuals doing as they like. I’m sure once we sort out these discipline problems then we will start competing with the the bigger fish in this division and the senior too, where we belong.
The Bees played well in the first 15 minutes with Bell joining up well with m.o.m Macca and Palmer winning more than his fair share of tackles . Wheat did well also , keeping the ball very well in midfield.and we were looking comfortable until we lost our shape for a while. The ball was allowed to be crossed from the right finding a Radcliffe player completely unmarked in the six yard box leaving Farmery no chance . (0-1 after 16 minutes)
The goal came against the run of play but the Bees kept their cool and gradually got ourselves back on top. The pressure told and sure enough we got ourselves a well deserved equaliser after some great play from m.o.m Macca. Macca tormented the Radcliffe defence before laying it off to the busy and talented Bell to finish easily . (1-1 after 25 minutes).
We really should have increased our lead but a combination of poor finishing and bad luck meant the score stayed the same at half time. The Bees started the second half in the same vein . Bell leading the way with a shot just wide on 50 then a free kick hitting the post on 55 minutes. The Bees kept plugging away but we started to get a little sloppy and holes began to appear after losing our shape.
Mcmorran carried on giving their defence no respite and the winner came when he had his shot blocked but was only parred out to the waiting Bell to slot home from 3 yards. (2-1 after 65 minutes). Macca hit the post in the 75th but the bees had to settle for a 2-1 score-line.
