BUCK UNLOCKS KEYWORTH'S GOAL

The preparation's today were hampered by the non appearance of the referee. Palmer shall we say 'volunteered' his services to ref the match. It was just left to Steve to frantically find a whistle.

The match started with Matrixgrade facing the notorious SW gale that blows over the ground at this time of year. It was obvious that Utd planned to use the wind to their advantage and hopefully score a couple of goals in the first half. What they did not realise is that Matrixgrade are well used to the conditions and coped quite easily. The first half was a plain and simple workman like performance, with both sides guilty of some poor passing which lead to the breakdown of any promising moves on goal. Buck did have a chance on goal, only for it to go wide.

At halftime Paley was quite surprised that Utd had not 'peppered' his goal. The opportunities they did have was nothing worth mentioning.

The old saying of ' a tale of two halves' was obvious to everyone. Now with the wind behind them Matrixgrade really turned the screw down hard on Utd. It was a case of when, not if Matrixgrade scored and that is exactly what happened. After some fantastic inter-passing the ball was slung in from the right for Waite to stoop low and head the ball into the net.

The second goal soon followed, again it was crossed into the mix of players and after a bout of ping pong Buck stuck a boot in to score his first of two goals. The 3rd goal was scored by Buck with a simple tap in after the Utd goalkeeper failed to hold on to the ball.

It could have been a bigger margin had Farmery's shot not hit the woodwork and Macca had converted the chances he had presented to him. As the match wore on so did the pressure on Utd, who hardly got over the centre line. If they did attack then they was soon snuffed out by the outstanding defence Matrixgrade now have.

A controversial incident was when Buck was felled in the penalty box, only for Palmer to wave it away. The Utd keeper even thought it was a definite penalty, but credit to Palmer he stated that "had Buck gone down straight away instead of trying to stay on his feet, he would have given it".

Paley by this time was not having anything to do such was the dominance of Matrixgrade and Palmer was having an good match and maybe when he finished his playing days will take up the whistle? The new signing are settling in well and making their mark on the games.

On paper it looked like being a hard game for Matrixgrade, in the end it turned out to be no more than a stroll in the park. A lot of good performances today by everyone, but this will count for nothing if we do not continue in the same vein week in, week out. Your fitness is also a vital factor, as we observed today. Look after your bodies as much as you can and Steve will look after the rest

I cannot go without making mention of the bevy of beauties that came and supported you today -thank you ladies, even if it was a little cold. The pitch was in fantastic shape again thanks to the hardwork of Chris. our groundsman.

Finally a massive big thanks must go to Aimee for the fantastic service in running the tea bar, the chicken soup was really lovely.
