Brown lifts the blues Well done men, slight improvement on last week. When we played our football the opposition couldn’t cope with you. The defence stood strong and played the ball through the midfield. The forwards held it up well and brought our midfield into the game. The biggest damper on the win was the loss of our center forward and friend Anthony Buck who had to come off after a 50/50 tackle left him with a broken leg mid way through the first half . We all wish ant a speedy recovery - No excuses ant training Tuesday.
Possession was shared in the early part of the game but a mistake from our defender gave the ball away in a dangerous area . Cotgrave broke away and crossed the ball . Stand in keeper Farmery managed to parry the ball away but it fell to the unmarked Brindley to tap home . (1–0 after 18 minutes)
Heads didn’t drop and it wasn’t long before we were on level terms. Neat work from mom Macca set up Brown to crash one in the bottom corner and give the bees a well deserved equalizer. (1–1 after 22 minutes).
The Bees were buzzing now and causing Cotgrave a lot of problems but just a couple of minutes later Cotgrave managed to break through our back line and was brought down by Smith on the 18 yard line, but the kick was high and wide letting the Bees off the hook. Matrix continued to enjoy possession and was rewarded with an almost identical goal from that man Brown who again beat Cowdell on the bottom right. (1–2 27 minutes). In injury time Rabbit had a great chance to increase our lead but fluffed his chance.
As expected Cotgrave came out with all guns blasting, although they saw a bit more possession they didn’t really cause our keeper too many problems. M.o.m Macca had to come off mid way through and we began to lose our way slightly. Cotgrave switched tactics to try and retrieve the goal but the Bees defended admirably.
We played good football for 30 minutes of the game but to challenge for the title we need to double that figure. Remember men whether you start the game or come off the bench you play football the Matrix way like we train on a Tuesday. When we make changes on match day we don’t expect the rythem to be lost like it was Sat.
See you at training on Tuesday.
