A good day at the office for the bees led by m.o.m & king bee Palmer who gave 120% to help the rest of the pack bag the 3 points against top of the table Bulwell. We worked very hard in the first half but our shape wasn’t quite right with great gaps appearing in the midfield. The first 20 minutes belonged to Matrix but Bulwell gradually started to take advantage of the gaps in the middle of the park.
Sure enough Bulwell got their goal after some very slack marking down the left allowed Haywood in to coolly finish under the body of the oncoming Palethorpe. (0-1 after 23 minutes).
The rest of the half belonged to Bulwell as they piled on the pressure but was thwarted by a stubborn defence marshaled by Smith, back after a long injury and new boy Wainwright who had a steady debut down at the hive.
The second started with a bang . Hassal made a great run from full back, getting behind their defence and crossing for the ever dangerous Buck to finish easily past the ex-Bee Hames (1-1 after 46 minutes).
Both teams had chances to win the game but it was Matrix who edged it in the second period. The game looked destined for a draw until Mcmorron came on for Waite 10 minutes from the end. The very last attack of the game saw Farmery pick up the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box where he found Macca who coolly took the ball around Hames to win the game. (2-1 after 90 minutes).
WELL DONE BOYS!!
