Bees blow hot & cold
We did quite well today considering we had 6 players out injured and one working. New signing Needham got his chance to make his debut and did ok. Wainwright is settling in nicely in defence & captain Farmery had to go in goal after Paley went down Friday night with a slipped disc. So although the consistency wasn’t there we worked well for each other and came away with a good result.
The Bees started the better, playing some neat football and Bucko and Macca looking a force up with the General and Palms taking charge in the middle. Tracy got us off to a great start early on after some good work from Macca squared the ball to find the hard working Doyle to finish off with his left peg. (1-0 after 10 minutes).
A combination of luck and poor finishing kept Pelican in the game as the Bees were all over them. Pelican held out for another 25 minutes but the way we were playing it was a matter of time before we doubled our lead. This time it was the ever dangerous Buck who tormented the opposition and found our top scorer Mcmorron to finish neatly past Harvey. (2-0 after 35 minutes)
We had settled for the 2-0 lead at half time but a mistake from Jacko let in Pelican to finish off a three man move and head the ball into the net to give Farmery no chance. (2-1 after 43 minutes)
The second half started with a bang when the hard working Doyle laid on the ball for hot shot Buck to finish past the oncoming Harvey. (3-1 after 47 minutes)
Pelican kept going and got what they deserved when Guademi shot through a crowded penalty area, managed to miss everybody and find the net. (3-2 after 60 minutes).
The Bees began to lose their shape and discipline allowing Pelican to gain momentam - they capitalised on this and equalized near the end of the game, after very poor marking left substitute Ayokunle to head home a free header. (3-3 after 82 minutes)
Macca won the game for us after a great through ball from the General found him one on one with the defender, but strength and speed saw him get the better. (3-4 after 88 minutes)
Just a minute later and substitute Jamie Laws missed an open goal from just 2 yards out, yes...I said two yards out...after Buck squared the ball for him. Somehow he managed to put the ball wide when it was easier to score.
Good three points today lads but we must improve our discipline towards officials. We got away with it today . keep off the refs backs and concentrate on keeping your team together - Think about it!
See you all at training lads.
